Our Mission

Cultivating Mindfulness Through Meditation and Contemplation

At Compassionate Presence Mindful Community, our mission is to promote mindfulness as the experience of nonjudgmental awareness in the present moment with curiosity and open acceptance. We believe in cultivating mindfulness through the practice of:

  • The Four Foundations of Mindfulness: awareness of the body, feeling tones, thoughts, and perceptions
  • The Four Immeasurable Qualities: loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity
  • The Five Mindfulness Trainings: Reverence for Life, True Happiness, True Love, Deep Listening and Loving Speech, and Nourishment and Healing

Through the application of mindfulness to our actions, speech, and thoughts, guided by the long established and scientifically based teachings, we aspire to cultivate compassion, understanding, and openness.

Rooted in Ancient Wisdom

Our foundation is rooted in the timeless teachings passed down through generations of venerable teachers. These teachings are meant to be embodied through study, meditation, discussion, the practice of applying them to our daily lives.

Embracing Diversity and Respect

At Compassionate Presence Mindful Community, we hold firm to the intention of seeing life without the distortion of our perceptions. We celebrate and promote respect for all individuals, irrespective of gender, sex, age, or physical ability.

About Your Teacher

Your journey toward a non-judgmental awareness in the present moment with curiosity and acknowledgement will be led by David Steinberg.  He is a dedicated practitioner who has been working toward embodying the long-established and scientifically based teachings of mindfulness since 2009. David has a wealth of experience and education, including:

  • conducting local and virtual mindfulness and meditation gatherings,
  • obtaining certification as a mindfulness teacher,
  • receiving training leading to certification as a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher
